Why do you expect other people to teach you things? I'm an adult. If I don't know something, I read a book about it. Do you think the Bolsheviks just went to school and learned everything in imperial Russia?

No, they set up literacy programmes. Just like the Black Panthers, or the Cubans, or even the Lutheran rebels if we go far enough back in history.

There's no shortcuts here is my point. The fact that the government or the private sector enforces functional illiteracy is just a stronger argument for the hard work.

You find the books, you help people understand them, and you make the effort, and it's either that, or we don't have democracy. Takes hard work. No way around it.

That's precisely why I try to respond to people's questions here, and why I try to write things as to simplify what is often arcane topics in mandated education. And until more people do that, we will face the same problem.
