That would be because the US wasn't built by Americans, it was built by slaves and colonised peoples, including Cuba. But also Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Honduras, Panama and numerous others.

These were, and many still are, vassal states of the US. Sometimes they'd put some compadore in charge and run it like a banana republic, but the natural resources, economy and infrastructure of these places existed for the benefit of the US.

Cuba has a very functional society, they have the most doctors per capita, some of the most advanced medical institutions in the world.

And the difference is that while the US had slaves and colonies, Cuba had an embargo. But of course they can build a society in spite of that, after all, they built the US.

I know plenty of people from these parts of the world, in fact my family doctor is Cuban, and I would never trust an American doctor because their education is not nearly as advanced.

Venezuela only recently had a coup attempt made against them by the Trump administration, and prior to this, Columbian mercenaries would burn their food shipments. Prior to this, you had the contras who would commit terrorist attacks, many of whom were trained on US soil. So their independence may be real, but it doesn't change how the US is constantly sabotaging them.

And I've also known people from capitalist countries in Latin America. Places like Brazil and Columbia. What do you think happens in Brazil and Columbia? Where they burn down rain forests, run death squads, assassinate indigenous activists, fund the drug lords and torture people?

All the worst parts of Latin America are US backed capitalist countries. Because that's how the US gets rich, by outsourcing their poverty to other nations.
